Troubeshooting - Launch EA from Prolaborate to Edit Diagrams

Troubeshooting - Launch EA from Prolaborate to Edit Diagrams

Q1. Unable to open EA from Prolaborate

Description

1. The diagram editor is enabled in the Repository Settings with the correct Connection String but still it is not possible to open EA from the Prolaborate diagrams.

Possible Reasons

1. The user might not have installed the diagram editor in their PC or local environment.
2. The connection string might be incorrect. If the PCS and Prolaborate are in different servers, the connection string must be updated accordingly.
3. Check the installation path, EA version (64 or 32 bit) and EA path.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Ask the customer to confirm if they have installed the Diagram editor in their local environment.
2. If it's already installed, Navigate to Menu > Repository Configuration in Prolaborate, remove the existing connection string and Save the configuration.
3. After saving, reload the page and you should see a new connection string.
4. Check the connection string, if Prolaborate and PCS are hosted in different servers, update the appropriate PCS details (Protocol, Server, Port) details and save the configuration.

Hi <Customer>,

Thank you for being so patient.

Could you please confirm whether the diagram editor is in your local environment? If not, please download the Diagram Editor plugin here and install it in your environment using the instructions here.

After installing the diagram editor, follow the steps mentioned below to configure the Diagram editor in Prolaborate.
1. Open your repository and navigate to Menu > Repository Configuration.

2. Make sure the Diagram editor is enabled, remove the existing connection string, and click Save.

3. Once the configuration is saved, reload the browser and you should be able to see a new connection string.

4. Check the connection string, if Prolaborate and PCS are hosted in different servers, update the appropriate PCS details (Protocol, Server, Port) details and save the configuration. For Example, "EAConnectString:eadb --- ;Connect=Cloud=protocol:http,address:localhost,port:1804;Data Source=eadb;"
5. After these steps, try accessing a diagram from Prolaborate and select the Open Enterprise Architecture option.
